Our mission
In a society full of insecurities and conformity, students’ true identities are frequently smothered and never explored. Students who learn and grow in this atmosphere have less ability to express themselves and have a harder time later in life. One way to help students’ self- esteem and confidence is to introduce them to theatre at a young age. Not all families have the resources or opportunity to expose their children to theatre. Our mission at Don’t Upstage Yourself is to provide a theatre experience to all children more easily. This ensures that students will feel more comfortable expressing themselves, speaking publicly, and, overall, it ensures their happiness and health in the present and the future.
Our belief statement
All students deserve to feel comfortable not only around others, but comfortable in their own skin. The students are the focus of the camp, and we will do everything we can to include everyone. Bullying is never acceptable; counselor to counselor, counselor to student, student to student, or any other form of bullying will be dealt with appropriately. Our goal is to instill a love of theatre upon students of every size, race, age, gender, sexual orientation, or anything of the sort. We know children can greatly benefit from theatre, and we will do everything in our power to help children in any way possible.
