Which direction is upstage? What is "prop" short for? We learned about all this and more today! Week 2 brought us stage directions, exploring traditional theatre, and, for our older group, scripts! After doing a read-through, students discussed what costumes, props, and set they need to properly present their play. The younger group continued learning about improv and comedic theatre. By playing new games, students were able to identify settings, develop new characters, and begin inventing plot lines. Next week, we will (hopefully) be on the stage, block the play, and play games that improve projection and character development, as well as starting a new form of theatre, slapstick comedy and improvisation.
